November 2023 - Congratulations to Dylan Fingerman for his new spot on the Hematology T23!
Dylan is finishing up a story on mechanisms of synthetic lethality in leukemia and looks forward to studying resistance to targeted therapies for his thesis project.
November 2023- Danielle LaVigne, a first year student in Molecular Genetics and Genomics, is rotating with us!
Danielle attended Clemson for undergrad and is interested in gene therapy. We’re psyched that she’s willing to focus on the “gene” part of gene therapy in the Green Lab for a couple months!
October 2023 - The Green Lab attends the 1st Cancer Biology retreat!
Dylan, Jess, Rachel, and Abby all attended the inaugural Cancer Biology graduate program retreat in New Haven, MO. Highlights included Rachel winning best poster, Jess doing Abby’s make up, and the lab winning scariest costume prize! Can’t wait for next year!
April 2023 - Lojain will be joining us this summer with Siteman Cancer Center’s DiCR program
Lojain will be spending her summer performing research in the Green lab as a member of Siteman Cancer Center’s Diversity in Cancer Research Program (DiCR). We are excited to have her in lab full-time where she will be working on exciting DNA and RNA editing projects in the lab. Glad to have her in the lab with us this summer!
April 2023 - O Captain! My Captain! Our fun-filled trip to Forest Park’s Boathouse is done
With all of our recent accomplishments, the Green lab braved the open waters of Post-Dispatch lake with the help of Forest Park’s Boathouse to celebrate the amazing work done in recent months. We had a blast taking paddle boats out on the water, and were well behaved throughout our journey. No paddlers thought we were actually playing bumper boats (Jess). March 2023 - Congrats David!
Congratulations David! Following in the footsteps of his second favorite lab member (RAD), David has been accepted into the Cancer Biology graduate program at Washington University’s School of Medicine. We are excited for him to stay in the WashU family and hopes he visits here at the Green Lab as he starts the next steps in his career!

January 2023 - Rachel DeWeerd successfully passed her qualifying exam!
Please join us in congratulating Rachel DeWeerd on acing her qualifying exam (QE). The lab put up some fun decorations during her exam as we had zero doubts she would not be passing. In typical Rachel fashion, she was immediately setting up an experiment in tissue culture following passing her QE. We are very proud of all her hard work and preparation, and are excited to see this project progress. Congrats again Rachel!
December 2022 - The Green lab goes Blue
This past week, the Green lab decided to swap our traditional green for the color blue as the St. Louis Blues faced off against the Carolina Hurricanes at the annual Hockey Fights Cancer night. It was many of our lab members’s first Blues hockey game, and we had a blast cheering on the home team. Unfortunately, our cheers were insufficient with helping our team secure the victory as the St. Louis Blues feel to the Hurricanes with a final score of 4-6.

We are delighted to announce and welcome the Green Lab’s newest member, Thi Tran. She is joining the lab after graduating from Truman State University this past May where she earned a degree in Biology. Thi will develop her skills at the bench while simultaneous acting as our very own resident bioinformatician. We are excited to have Thi join the lab!
July 2022 - Please join us in congratulating Ava Hansen as she begins medical school at Drexel University College of Medicine
It is a bittersweet time in the Green Lab as we say our goodbyes to our research extraordinaire Ava Hansen as she begins her medical studies. She has been with the lab for the past three years, beginning her career as an undergraduate researcher and transitioning into a research technician as a post-bacc. She became an invaluable member of the Green Lab driving multiple projects and providing immense value to our culture. We are deeply saddened to see her leave, but are beyond excited for her journey in becoming an amazing medical doctor at the Drexel University College of Medicine. We are all wishing Ava the absolute best as she commences the next phase of her life. She will always have a home in the Green Lab. Thank you Ava.

We joined our neighbors and close collaborators in some celebratory festivities at a local STL brewery. Fun was had by all, and David even got a free pair of sunglasses! How cool!
